- Thank you all for coming to Parent Teacher Interviews! It was delight to meet you all and I look forward to working with you this year to meet your child's learning needs!
- November 27 & 28th the grade 5s will be split into two different groups to go have a field trip at the Galt Museum. The field trip is titled water for the Pariries and is focused on reinforcing how communities are formed. It is suppose to be a highly engage lesson.
- More details about when your child is going (Tuesday or Wednesday will be sent out on Monday). If you need to know sooner please contact me at: [email protected]
- We have library this week on Wednesday. Please make sure your child has their library books, although they should be able to be responsible for this on their own.
- Christmas Concert is around the corner! Everyone should of received their tickets. If you need extras please hand in the proper form to me.
Learning in the Classroom:
- Gym: we continue to learn the basic skills of badminton with Ms. Chang.
- Health: The students are learning about proper portions of each food group and discovery what each food group does for our bodies! Again, this is with Ms. Chang.
- Music: It is Winter Concert Time. The students will be learning a piece with Ms. Thorlakson. I am sure the concert will be amazing!
- Math: We are focusing on fractions. We are learning how to pronounce them correctly and how to express them both with pictures and numbers. We are starting to compare fractions and will soon learn how they relate to decimals. If you want any more practice in math please let me know and I can dig something up for your child to do at home! Check out the math page for resources based on topic.
- Reading: Our first rotation of literacy is coming to a close. Students will be swapped into different activities including: readers theater, novel studies, word games, or LLI.
- Science: We are coming to a close this week with our Electricity and Magnetism & Wheels and Levers units. We will do some review games and have a quiz on Thursday. No need to study at home, but please check out our flipped classroom website to see what we have been learning about!
- Social: We will be starting our History Unit about Alberta and Canada. This unit is very large and has a lot of information and perspectives that we need to account for. I will do my very best to include you on the subject matter we are talking about, but again check out our classroom website to see what we have talked about!
