- Today we tuned all the students violins. We expect that the violins will go out of tune frequently the first month or so as new violins take time to hold their tune.
- The new rosin takes a little while to break in, so we used a better piece to give the new bows a head start. Please continue to use the new rosin. I promise it will break in eventually!
- All students should have a chin rest. Not a sponge. We adjusted it for the students and showed them how to put them on the violin.
- We reminded students how to stand in rest position and play position and to loosen their bows after they practice!
- I will try to get videos on the resource page about how to maintain the violins. If the violin goes out of tune do not hesitate to send it to school and me and Mme. Goettlel will do our best to tune them during the day!
Daily Practice This Week (5 - 10 minutes)
- Tighten and Rosin your bow for a whole minute!
- Caterpillar crawl to the top of your bow and back to the bottom. Make sure the tip is pointed up and you are doing it on soft surface!
- Get in the rest position
- Go in the play position (V for violin with your feet!)
- repeat 10 times
- Play the open A string with four big bows.
All done!
