Notes and Reminders:
Classroom Learning:
- Grade 5 basketball forms went out this. Please fill them out and return them if your child is interested in playing basketball. This opportunity is only for the Grade 5s.
- We have library every Wednesday. Please help your children remember their library books! We have been doing great so far.

Classroom Learning:
- Math:
- We continue to study fractions and understand how fractions that look different can actually be equal. Some of us are starting to even simplify fractions. Some challenging activities can be found on Mathletics. One activity in particular asks students to find, for example, 1/4 of 20. or 2/4 of 20. T
- To support learning at home try cooking or baking with your children. Have them notice the different measurements and how they look bigger or smaller!
- Science:
- We have completed this part of Electricity and Simple Machines. We will come back to these topics as we learn to build devices using electricity and simple machines in February. I took a quick glance over the quiz and overall everyone did fine. You can look to have your child return them on Monday.
- Health:
- Ms. Chang continues to take us through healthy eating habits, A meal tracker booklet should of been sent home. We hope that students can break down a meal that they ate and make goals to improve their diets. Please make sure these come back Monday or that they have a good idea of what they ate over the weekend.
- Gym:
- Goodbye badminton and hello volleyball! We finished our badminton unit with a small fun tournament.
- Writing:
- We continue to work on our informational pieces and have focused that detail is extremely important when talking about a topic that we are experts on. That way our reader can follow along and not get lost or confused. Ask your child what they are writing about!
- Reading:
- We are closing out our first rotation of literacy. Reader theater groups will perform for some kindergarten classes and novel study groups will create a movie trailer. New assignments will be delivered come the new year. We will be focusing on legibility as well in our assignments.
- French
- We will start to learn seasonal terms in winter as well as Christmas words.
- Art
- Ms. Chang is coming to close on her Winter Animals, which had the students focus on lines and pointillism. Look for them on our classroom bulletin board!
