Welcome back everyone! I am so glad to be with the kids again and to continue our adventure of Grade 4/5
Notes & Reminders:
Classroom Review:
Gym: We have been switching between jump rope and kickball.
Math: Geometry! We dove into categorizing the different polygons and how to name prisms and pyramids. We will continue to build and organize these different shapes. Eventually we will move into transformation of shapes and playing with symmetry.
Kids in the Know: This week we finished off our last few lessons of Kids in the Know. The grade 4s were with Mr. Vanden Dungen and Mr. Firth and the Grade 5s were with me. We talked about healthy positive friendships, common lures that unsafe adults may try to use, and how to keep ourselves safe online. If you have any questions about the material covered please do not hesitate to contact me.
Writing: I gave the students one final week to finish typing their stories. Many students are revising and editing. We will soon publish these pieces into our: Collected Stories of Rm. 7 book. We then move back into pencil and paper writing and focusing more on spelling.
It was a busy week with those four subjects. We will dive back into our final Science Unit next week as well as our French lessons.
As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns!
-Tom
Notes & Reminders:
- Music Monday is May 6th. We will gather to celebrate the numerous music ensembles we have at our school and sing "together" with schools across Canada to celebrate music. The assembly will start at 10:45 and run until 11:45. Public are more than welcome and can come and go as they please!
- Wednesday the grade 4 students will be headed to Mountain View Cemetery with Mr. Vanden Dungen and the Galt to discover how we can uncover history in the most strangest of places. I know it sounds like a strange field trip, but it is really well done and helps students critically assess the historical evidence around them. We will review proper etiquette when visiting a cemetery. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this field trip.
- Thursday is Lunch on the Go.
- Friday we have the Bow Valley Fiddlers (the group I learned to play the fiddle through) coming to Agnes Davidson to play a small show for the students. They will start at 10:30. Public welcome to attend!
- Please bring in any money that was earned for our Spell-a-thon. If our class raises the most money then we will get half of that money directly into the classroom. If we do win we will discuss as a class what we might like to purchase!
